My Problem with Sopan Appearance in Baraju Arc

First of all, I will start by saying that; the moment I knew Boboiboy is going to get a new fusion (just based on the issue 20 cover reveal), I had a bad feeling about it. But, once I read about how he was in the next issue, I like him! I especially like his demeanor, he’s unique next to Gentar. So, why I don’t like the idea of him at first? here’s why:

1. We already got a fusion in the previous arc – Gentar, and getting a new one back-to-back makes fusion feel too easy to get – in other words, the idea just feels stale. Don’t get me wrong, I love fusions but I would prefer if we get more gaps to introduce new fusions.
2. Baraju arc was initially about Blaze & Ice, and the introduction to their third tier. But, Sopan appearance at the end just imo pulls the attention away from these two. In fact, even the issue cover does not portray either Ice or Blaze, who are the main characters of that issue. (Actually, this is not the first time the cover does not 100% portray what’s inside, so won’t complain much about that aspect.)
3. Sopan appeared after Blaze & Ice had an intense fight, which I believe is a ‘deus ex machina’ move, due to Boi still being capable of pulling a powerful fusion after exhausting himself with Blaze/Ice fight. Imo this is not a good move as it indicates that Boi had a conditional infinite energy. This is something that Monsta has been doing in the original Boboiboy series, and even in the current Galaxy season – which I hope they would reduce the usage of ‘deus ex machina’ element for future episodes. Mechamato barely had it, so I hope Boboiboy won’t have it much too. (Current season of galaxy seems to improve a little in that aspect.)

That’s all. But, this does not mean I don’t want him to appear in the animated baraju arc. NO, I WANT HIM TO APPEAR, DON’T TAKE HIM AWAY. I just wish his appearance makes more sense.

I do not want to rant without providing some thoughts/solutions. Since the comic’s already done, the animation can still be changed, so here’s some of my thoughts on how they can make sopan appearance better in the animated version.

1. Throw an early foreshadow on Solar & Taufan fusing, particularly on how good their negotiation skills are; because that’s why Sopan appeared in the comic, to negotiate between yanaari and gardu.
2. Instead of Sopan immediately appeared after the big fight (Ais vs Blaze), maybe they can add a period where they back off for a while after the fight. Yanaari & Gardhu would still be fighting regardless, hence it would make sense for him to change to sopan later on to talk with the two about permanent ceasefire.

Other than that, I like how baraju arc was written in the comic and I think we’re going to get more about the story since it seems that they’re moving the roktaroka plot early in gentar arc. Looking forward for the upcoming Gentar & Baraju!
